SAVE America Act Provisions Advance in House Budget Resolution
|
|
On Wednesday, the House passed a budget resolution directing committees to draft reconciliation legislation. As part of that framework, the House Administration Committee received instructions that could be used to advance SAVE America Act provisions through reconciliation.
I supported the budget resolution because it creates another opportunity to advance the SAVE America Act. The House has already passed several versions of this legislation through multiple legislative vehicles. Every time the House sends major legislation to the Senate, we should send election-integrity provisions with it until the Senate finally acts. Americans overwhelmingly support proof of citizenship and voter identification, and Congress shouldn't stop fighting for it simply because the Senate refuses to do its job.

Main Street Backs the Great American Healthcare Plan
|
|
This week, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation's leading small business advocacy organization, endorsed my Great American Healthcare Plan. Their endorsement adds to growing support for the legislation, which is now backed by 12 cosponsors in Congress. I'm grateful for NFIB's support as we continue working to lower healthcare costs and give Americans more control over their healthcare dollars.

DOGE Subcommittee: Oversight of the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History
|
|
On Tuesday, the Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency held a hearing titled "Rewriting American History: Examining the Smithsonian's Efforts to Reshape the Past." The hearing exposed that the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History has lost sight of its responsibility to tell America's story with confidence, favoring ideology over history. During the hearing, I questioned Director Anthea Hartig about her past remarks on moving beyond an "America First mentality" and made the case that our national museum should instead lead in celebrating the principles and people that shaped the United States.

House Adopts UAP Disclosure Amendment
|
|
On Tuesday, the House adopted my Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) Disclosure Act as an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2027 National Defense Authorization Act. If enacted, the amendment would establish a statutory framework for preserving, reviewing, and publicly disclosing UAP records. It would create a permanent UAP Records Collection at the National Archives, establish an independent UAP Records Review Board, and extend disclosure requirements to covered government contractors. By strengthening the legal authorities for disclosure, it would support President Trump’s Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE). The legislation now heads to the Senate.

My Bill to Save Taxpayer Dollars Through Smarter Procurement Passes House
|
|
On Monday, the House passed my Federal Improvement in Technology Procurement Act, legislation that would improve how the federal government purchases technology. My bill would reduce unnecessary bureaucracy, help agencies acquire commercial technology more efficiently, and make it easier for small businesses to compete for federal contracts. It would also allow contracting officers to focus their attention on major acquisitions while helping taxpayers get better value from every federal dollar spent.

National Academies Review Gains Momentum
|
|
In May, I led a letter with 10 House colleagues urging the Trump administration to investigate federal funding awarded to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine over concerns about bias, conflicts of interest, and misuse of taxpayer dollars. This week, President Trump publicly called for action, adding momentum to an issue my office has been pressing for months. I'm encouraged to see the administration taking these concerns seriously. Taxpayer dollars should never fund political advocacy disguised as independent science.

Service Academy Nominations Open
|
|
High school and college students in Missouri’s Seventh District who are interested in serving our country through one of the U.S. service academies can now apply for a congressional nomination through my office. Members of Congress may nominate candidates to the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Attending a service academy carries a minimum five-year military service commitment after graduation. Applications for this cycle are due Oct. 13, 2026.
